US-based musician Kobie Rymz and Ghanaian artiste Ed Eddie are bringing family ties, personal experiences and a shared passion for music together as they prepare to release a seven-song joint EP.

The cousins’ musical journey began with a simple conversation over the phone. While discussing their individual experiences and some of the challenges they had encountered in life, they discovered striking similarities in their stories. That conversation eventually inspired them to turn their experiences into music.

According to the duo, their first record came together so well that it motivated them to create more songs together, ultimately leading to the development of their upcoming joint EP.

Their latest release, “Pressure,” captures some of the struggles they have experienced. The song explores the challenges of life and the pressures that come with pursuing a career in music. Kobie Rymz draws from his experiences and challenges of life in the United States, while Ed Eddie reflects on his long journey in the Ghanaian music industry and the perception that his career may be approaching its end. Despite these challenges, both artistes use the song to express resilience, hope and the determination to keep moving forward.

With seven songs planned for the joint EP, the duo promises listeners a project filled with quality music and authentic stories. Although they have kept many details of the project under wraps, the collaboration is already generating interest, particularly because of their unique relationship as cousins and the different environments in which they have built their lives and careers.

For Kobie Rymz, living in New York has played a significant role in shaping his artistic identity. The city’s diverse cultures, stories and energy have exposed him to a wide range of musical influences, helping him develop a more versatile sound while encouraging him to create lyrics rooted in real-life experiences.

For Ed Eddie, the project represents a new chapter in his musical career. Having worked with several notable Ghanaian artistes, he acknowledges that his solo career has not progressed as quickly as he had hoped. However, he remains optimistic and believes strongly in the importance of timing and seasons, maintaining that he feels his time has finally come.

Despite the geographical distance between them, with Kobie based in the United States and Ed Eddie in Ghana, the artistes say technology has made it easier to collaborate. From recording sessions to video calls, the two have found creative ways to work together despite being thousands of miles apart.

Their family relationship has also played an important role in navigating the creative process. While disagreements are inevitable, the cousins say they make a conscious effort to listen to each other, exchange ideas and ultimately choose what serves the music best rather than focusing on who is right.

When asked whether they plan to continue as a music duo after the release of the EP, the pair remained tight-lipped, only hinting that “there’s a lot coming.”

Beyond music, both artistes draw inspiration from their personal lives, relationships, struggles and everyday experiences. They believe these experiences provide the raw material needed to create music that is genuine, relatable and capable of connecting with listeners.

Ultimately, Kobie Rymz and Ed Eddie have ambitions that extend beyond the release of a seven-song EP. Their shared dream is to take their music to a global audience, touch lives through their sound and build a lasting legacy they can both be proud of.

With “Pressure” serving as an introduction to their shared musical journey, fans will be watching closely to see what the upcoming seven-song project delivers and what the cousins have in store for listeners beyond it.
