Nene Tek’s “Find My Way”: A Comeback Fueled by Music, Culture and Global Ambition

Ghanaian singer, songwriter and rapper Nene Tek is steadily carving out his own space in Ghana’s evolving music scene with a sound that brings together his Ghanaian roots and international influences. Signed to AFG Music, the versatile artiste also proudly represents his Krobo heritage, which remains an important part of his identity and creative journey.

Nene Tek describes his sound as “Afro Soul,” a blend of Afro-inspired sounds with international musical influences. One of the defining elements of his music is his ability to fuse the local “palance” sound with foreign sounds, creating something that feels both familiar and fresh. For him, music is not simply about making records; it is about creating songs that connect with people emotionally.

“My aim is to create a type of music which serves as therapy to listeners and touches them deeply,” he explains.

His latest single, “JSS,” is a perfect example of his spontaneous and versatile approach to music. The song was created during a sleepless night when Nene Tek turned to YouTube in search of beats and eventually discovered an instrumental by producer Nawtyboi. Inspired by the beat, he immediately reached out to the producer and began working on what he believed would become a banger.

The creative process continued alongside his work as a teacher at DD Ansah School Complex, where some of his students even became curious about the song he was working on. Their excitement further encouraged him to complete the record.

Beyond its catchy sound, “JSS” carries a message against violence. Nene Tek encourages listeners not to respond aggressively when people gossip about them or talk behind their backs. Instead, he uses humour and cheeky responses as an alternative to confrontation, giving the song both entertainment value and a positive message.

JSS” is also part of his upcoming eight-track EP, “Find My Way II.” According to Nene Tek, the project tells the story of someone navigating life while searching for success, happiness and a better lifestyle. He believes the experiences captured on the project are relatable to people from different backgrounds.

One thing that Nene Tek strongly embraces is versatility. At AFG Music, the mantra is “Can’t Box Me In,” and he says he intends to live by it. While Afrobeats and Hiplife are present in his music, he is equally comfortable exploring Trap, Rap, R&B, Amapiano, House, Gospel and other sounds.

He believes this versatility is one of the qualities that separates him from many emerging artistes. However, he also credits the team and family structure behind AFG Music. Working alongside his cousin, the team combines Ghanaian roots with international exposure, with the ultimate goal of taking their music and culture beyond Ghana.

But Nene Tek’s ambitions extend beyond music. Through AFG Music, he and his team are working to build a movement that incorporates music, fashion, culture and lifestyle. The JSS merchandise is an early step in that vision, with supporters receiving merchandise as a way of becoming part of the journey.

The plan is for future Nene Tek singles to have their own artwork and identity, with selected cover concepts eventually transformed into limited merchandise. For Nene Tek, the music has to “bang,” but the fashion must also make an impact.

Fashion, he says, has always been closely connected to his musical identity. He hopes to eventually establish his own fashion and merchandise line, with designs that celebrate Ghanaian culture and specifically highlight the heritage of the Krobo people.

The artiste has also begun exploring brand collaborations, including work with JFK, which has supported some of his shoots. He hopes such relationships can develop into bigger collaborations, while also expressing interest in working with brands that promote African creativity, fashion and culture on a global scale.

Ultimately, Nene Tek is thinking beyond Ghana. He wants to build a global brand.
